WELCOME TO BECOMING INSTITUTE INC—Home of the Becoming Method™
We are honoured to welcome you to the Becoming Institute Inc.—a sanctuary of healing, transformation, and truth. Since our founding in 2016, our mission has remained unwavering: to support individuals, families, and communities in ending traumatic responses and reclaiming a life of purpose, peace, and wholeness.

At the heart of our work lies The Becoming Method™—a pioneering, evidence-informed therapeutic process grounded in over 20 years of clinical research, epigenetic science, and deep spiritual wisdom. Developed by Dr. Joan Samuels-Dennis, the Becoming Method™ offers a structured path through the natural stages of healing—Truth, Forgiveness, and Reconciliation—and helps clients move from surviving trauma to thriving in alignment with their highest self.

The Becoming Method™ is more than a therapy technique—it is a journey. As you work with us, you will begin to shed inherited pain, release limiting beliefs, and reconnect with the deepest truth of who you are. Our process helps you make a powerful internal declaration: “I know who I am. I know my why.”

You’ll be supported every step of the way—mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually—as you move through a structured healing process informed by the latest research in trauma recovery, polyvagal theory, and the science of consciousness
CONFIDENTIALITY
Confidentiality is one of the most important elements of therapy. Without the ability for the client to trust the therapist to maintain her/his confidence, the client is unable to share some of the happiest, saddest, darkest, scariest, most secretive parts of her/his emotional experiences.

We will not discuss your information with any person, unless given prior permission by you. We believe in working with entire families, not just the individual who is suffering. Each member holds a point of view of key moments that impacts them all. These different points of view tell a story that we will use to support the family in reshaping and reframing their story as they heal. If we need to speak with a family member about an issue, we will request permission to do so.

While we do maintain records of our appointments, we only maintain a record of abnormal responses to treatment. In such cases, the content of our sessions are kept secure. In all but a few situations, provincial and federal laws and the policies of the College of Nurses of Ontario protect your confidentiality. The following are the most common cases in which confidentiality is not protected:

  1. If we have cause to believe a child, disabled person, or an elderly person has been or will be abused, neglected, or exploited, we are legally required to report this to the proper authorities.
  2. If you make a serious threat to harm yourself or others, the law allows us to try to protect you or a potential victim. This usually means telling others about the threat and helping you seek appropriate help.
  3. If you inform me that a health professional has been sexually inappropriate with you, I am required to notify the appropriate authorities.
  4. If we are subpoenaed to appear in court and provide testimony regarding our knowledge and experience of you, we will assert privilege on your behalf. If the judge insists we testify (via subpoena), we will testify truthfully and honestly to whatever we think or believe about you.
PRIVACY AND SHARING OF INFORMATION
I authorize the Becoming Institute Inc. and its associated health professionals to collect my personal and medical information as documented above. In addition, I authorize Becoming Institute Inc. and its associated health professionals to communicate with my family doctor and/or referring doctor as deemed necessary for my beneficial treatment. I also understand that my personal and medical information is confidential and will only be disclosed to third parties with my permission.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapists' day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 48 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 48 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee to the card on file.
OPEN COMMUNICATION
At Becoming Institute Inc., we believe that healing happens not only during sessions, but in the hours and days that follow. Our therapeutic approach is intentionally different—designed to create deep, lasting shifts in your body, mind, and spirit.

Many clients experience noticeable effects for 3 to 5 days after a session, and we welcome ongoing communication during this important integration period. If you notice any emotional, physical, or psychological changes—whether they feel unsettling or empowering—we encourage you to reach out. This includes symptoms you may experience, concerns about the therapeutic process, or any insights that arise as you move through your healing journey.

You may contact us by phone at 647-265-0804 or via email at info@becomingmethod.com. We will make every effort to respond within 24 to 48 business hours.

Please note that our communication channels are not monitored around the clock. If you are in crisis or require immediate support, please contact your local emergency services, visit the nearest hospital, or call 911.

We are here to support you, and we are honoured to walk alongside you in your process of Becoming.
FEES FOR EXTRA-SESSION TIME
While we strive to keep our sessions within the scheduled time frame, there may be occasions when additional time is required to ensure your session is complete and productive. Our goal is to support you in achieving a sense of resolution and to avoid leaving you with unfinished matters that may disrupt your progress. If a session goes over the allotted time, we will extend the session as needed and charge for the additional time in increments of 30 minutes at a rate of $90 per increment.
FEES FOR PACKAGES
Please note that direct billing to insurance providers is not available at this time. Clients are responsible for payment at the time of service. Upon payment, you will receive an official receipt that can be submitted to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

We encourage all clients to verify with their insurance provider in advance whether services delivered by our practitioners are eligible for coverage under their specific plan.
